African Collaborative for Health Financing Solutions (ACS)

Building Ecosystems to Support National UHC Processes

The Uganda Healthcare Federation is pleased to have received support from the African Collaborative for Health Financing Solutions (ACS) through Results for Development (R4D) with support from USAID to work with the Uganda Ministry of Health and various stakeholders in the development of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Roadmap for Uganda. Through this project, Uganda established an Inter-ministerial Committee that spearheaded the development of the Roadmap under the stewardship of the Ministry of Health. The Uganda UHC Roadmap encompasses a multi-sectoral approach to addressing the disease burden of the country. Following the launch, ACS developed multimedia content available here for ease of understanding the Roadmap. UHF continues to champion UHC in Uganda in collaboration with civil society and various stakeholders.

Interested in advancing UHC in your country?

After 5 years of working with African experts and institutions to advance universal health coverage across the continent, the African Collaborative for Health Financing Solutions ACS has shared key lessons and knowledge accumulated to serve as a foundation for countries wishing to advance UHC.

A primary focus for ACS was to build and strengthen the local ecosystem of support to African countries as they pursue their UHC goals. Given that a mix of skills and capacities (technical, political, and social) are necessary to drive the UHC process forward, mobilizing collaboration across different types of governmental and non-governmental institutions is key. We have curated a package of resources on the vision, lessons and experience of ACS’ African institutional partners who are collectively building an African network to support country UHC processes and to spread learning and evidence to advance UHC across the African continent. We hope that you will find them useful in your own UHC journey.
